Tower Hamlets Town Centre Audits
Tower Hamlets Council wanted to create a clearer picture of the performance of three town centres within the borough and identify priorities to improve them. They also wanted to encourage collaboration across partners, including different council departments and commercial and community organisations, to improve things together.
Cocreate, in partnership with Imagine Places, undertook three town centre audits which included extensive consultation on the streets and in shops, research from multiple data sets, visualisation and mapping, with workshops for stakeholders to review the research and identify priorities. These produced a dynamic picture of the changes the town centres were undergoing and the match – or gaps – in terms of the needs and expectations of different town centre users.
The findings will be published shortly and will inform how the council can best allocate funding for each town centres.
